Hybrid Design of an Optical Detector for Terrestrial Laser Range Finding

This paper presents the integration of an InGaAs avalanche photodiode (APD)with first amplification stage, comprised a low capacitance silicon N-channel dual-gate MOS-FET and associated passive components, in APD case. combined linear mode optical hybrid detector is used field terrestrial laser range finding. In this case, reduction input by 0.7 pF improvement signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at lowbackground noise conditions 32 percent when compared to equivalent discrete was measured. When integrated finding system very strong daylight SNR approximately 10 achieved. Furthermore significant immunity electromagnetic interference (EMI) shown. Finally, eye-safe mobile system, ranging beyond km with accuracy ±2 m on non-cooperative targets using demonstrated.
